Key findings

  1. 5 of 8 countries publish a comparable price. The lowest is Turkey at £269; the highest published figure is £495, before travel.
  2. From the UK, 5 of 5 countries are cheaper than a private veneer at home before travel, and none after an example flight and 6 hotel nights. The lowest UK self-pay price we found is £850.
  3. No official waiting-time figure is published for this in the UK, Canada or Ireland that we could use; it is mostly bought privately.
  4. No verified comparable price in South Korea, Japan and China. A gap means we could not find a price the provider publishes itself, not that the treatment is unavailable.

What a veneer is

A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain bonded to the front of a tooth to change its colour or shape. The tooth is usually filed down first, which cannot be undone. Composite veneers are built up in resin, cost less and wear faster. Prices are per tooth, so a smile makeover of 8 to 20 teeth multiplies the figure.

Veneers for appearance are a private cosmetic treatment in the UK, Ireland, Canada and the US, so the comparison is between private prices. The UK Foreign Office says dental procedures are among the most common treatments for medical tourists in Turkey, and that it is aware of 7 British nationals who died there in 2025 following medical procedures (FCDO).

How to compare veneer prices

  • Check the treatment plan says veneers, not crowns. A crown covers the whole tooth and needs much more of it removed.
  • Compare the same material: porcelain or e.max against porcelain or e.max, not against composite.
  • Ask whether the consultation, X-rays and smile design are in the price, and how much is paid up front.
  • Ask what the guarantee covers and whether you must travel back to use it.

Do not travel for a veneer if

  • Gum disease or tooth decay that has not been treated yet.
  • Heavy teeth grinding, until a dentist has assessed your bite.
  • Healthy teeth you would only like whiter: ask a dentist about whitening first, because filing teeth down is permanent.

Before you book

  • Send recent X-rays and photos, and get a written plan with the number of teeth, the material and the total price.
  • Read the official travel advice for the country. The UK Foreign Office says dental procedures are among the most common treatments for medical tourists in Turkey.

After you come home

  • Register with a dentist at home and give them the records and materials used. A chipped or loose veneer needs a dentist, at home prices.

Bringing results home so your own doctor can use them is covered in how to bring your results home.

Veneers abroad: questions

Where is a veneer cheapest abroad?

Before flights, the lowest published prices we found are in Turkey (about £269), Mexico (about £284 to £337) and Thailand (about £399). The cheapest country is not always the cheapest trip: a short flight can matter more than the price difference.

How long is the wait for a veneer on the NHS?

NHS England does not publish a waiting-time figure for this that we could use. Ask your GP or dentist what the NHS offers in your case.

How much does a private veneer cost in the UK?

about £850 at the UK providers we checked, before any consultant fees they list separately.

What does the price of a veneer usually include?

On this site the price should cover one porcelain or e.max veneer on one tooth. Composite (resin) veneers are mentioned in the notes, not in the range. Check the treatment plan says veneers, not crowns. A crown covers the whole tooth and needs much more of it removed.

How long do I need to stay abroad for a veneer?

About a week at many clinics: preparing the teeth and fitting temporaries, a few days while the lab makes the veneers, then fitting and a bite check. Ask for the clinic’s schedule. Ask the clinic for the schedule in writing before you book flights.
