How it works for a visitor

  1. Ask for a written quoteSend the clinic your referral or reason for the veneer and ask for an itemised price, the date, and what happens if the result needs follow-up.
  2. Before you goSend recent X-rays and photos, and get a written plan with the number of teeth, the material and the total price.
  3. Before you goRead the official travel advice for the country. The UK Foreign Office says dental procedures are among the most common treatments for medical tourists in Turkey.
  4. LanguageLithuanian; clinics that serve patients from abroad work in English.
  5. Entry rulesCheck the official advice for your passport before booking: UK citizens (FCDO entry requirements), Canadian citizens (travel.gc.ca), US citizens (State Department, choose the country), Irish citizens (DFA travel advice, choose the country).
  6. After you returnRegister with a dentist at home and give them the records and materials used. A chipped or loose veneer needs a dentist, at home prices.

Can your public system pay for it?

From England (NHS): the S2 route can fund planned treatment in an EU country, but only state healthcare with a public provider, never private treatment, and only with approval before you go. NHS England must also confirm it cannot treat you in a medically acceptable time. The private clinics on this page do not qualify. NHS: the S2 funding route.

From Ireland (HSE): Lithuania is one of the EU countries listed for the Cross Border Directive scheme. You pay the provider yourself and then claim back the smaller of what you paid and what the same care would cost in the Irish public system; travel and hotels are not covered, and you need a referral from a GP or a consultant you saw as a public patient. HSE: Cross Border Directive, how much you can claim.

When not to travel for a veneer

  • Gum disease or tooth decay that has not been treated yet.
  • Heavy teeth grinding, until a dentist has assessed your bite.
  • Healthy teeth you would only like whiter: ask a dentist about whitening first, because filing teeth down is permanent.

How to compare veneer quotes

A veneer is a thin shell of porcelain bonded to the front of a tooth to change its colour or shape. The tooth is usually filed down first, which cannot be undone. Composite veneers are built up in resin, cost less and wear faster. Prices are per tooth, so a smile makeover of 8 to 20 teeth multiplies the figure.

  • Check the treatment plan says veneers, not crowns. A crown covers the whole tooth and needs much more of it removed.
  • Compare the same material: porcelain or e.max against porcelain or e.max, not against composite.
  • Ask whether the consultation, X-rays and smile design are in the price, and how much is paid up front.
  • Ask what the guarantee covers and whether you must travel back to use it.

Veneers in Lithuania: questions

How much does a veneer cost in Lithuania?

The published prices we found range from €790, about £661 or $884. They come from ProDentum. Each covers something slightly different, so read what is included before comparing.

Is a veneer in Lithuania cheaper than paying privately in the UK?

Before travel, the prices here work out at about £661, against about £850 at the UK providers we checked. Travel adds a flight and a hotel on top; the calculator on the home page adds a rough estimate.

Will the NHS or HSE pay for a veneer in Lithuania?

The NHS S2 route pays only for state treatment at a public provider in the EU, with approval before you travel, not for private clinics. From Ireland, the HSE Cross Border Directive scheme lets you claim back up to what the same care costs in the Irish public system, after you have paid.

How many days should I plan in Lithuania?

About a week at many clinics: preparing the teeth and fitting temporaries, a few days while the lab makes the veneers, then fitting and a bite check. Ask for the clinic’s schedule. That is our planning estimate, not medical advice: the clinic sets the schedule, and you should ask it for one in writing.

What should I check before booking a veneer in Lithuania?

Check the treatment plan says veneers, not crowns. A crown covers the whole tooth and needs much more of it removed. Compare the same material: porcelain or e.max against porcelain or e.max, not against composite.
