New: heart bypass and stent

Self-pay prices and waiting times at home

The “stay” side of every comparison: what private clinics in the UK, Canada, Ireland and the US publish as self-pay prices, and how long the public system makes people wait, by official statistics. The rules we follow are on how we check prices.

Prices are the provider's own published figures in its own currency. Waiting figures come from NHS England, Public Health Scotland, NICOR, the Canadian Institute for Health Information and provincial reports, and Ireland's National Treatment Purchase Fund. Each measures something different, so every figure carries its label.
