Heart check-up in Thailand: what it costs and how it compares with waiting at home

Prices checked 27 October 2026 (Taipei time)

Short answer

Thailand providers publish heart check-ups only inside bundles with other tests, so we show them but leave Thailand out of the price comparison.

Published heart check-up prices in Thailand

Every row is a price the provider publishes itself, read on the date shown. We copy what the price includes and what it leaves out; where the provider does not say, the row says “not stated”. We do not use prices from brokers or medical-travel agencies.

Prices are copied as published, in the provider's currency. Conversions use the European Central Bank reference rates of 23 October 2026 and are rounded. A provider can change a price at any time: ask for a written quote.

Some Bangkok hospitals publish lower package prices that are only for Thai nationals and foreigners living in Thailand. MedPark Hospital's colonoscopy package, for example, says “The price is exclusively for Thai nationals and expatriates residing in Thailand” (MedPark). We leave such prices out. The Bumrungrad surgical prices here come from a 2025 sheet hosted by an insurer, so ask the hospital for its current price.

Hospitals in Thailand that offer a heart check-up to international patients

Each runs its own service for patients from abroad. The booking time on each card is the hospital's own words; where it publishes none, ask for a date in writing before you book flights.

Compared with waiting or paying at home

Waits are the latest official statistics; each country measures them differently, so read the label. Home prices are published self-pay prices; for the US they are 2021 hospital medians or a dental school's estimate.

How it works for a visitor

  1. Ask for a written quoteSend the clinic your referral or reason for the heart check-up and ask for an itemised price, the date, and what happens if the result needs follow-up.
  2. Before you goBring a list of your medicines and any earlier ECGs or reports.
  3. Before you goWear comfortable shoes if a treadmill test is included.
  4. LanguageThai; the large Bangkok private hospitals work in English and many other languages.
  5. Entry rulesCheck the official advice for your passport before booking: UK citizens (FCDO entry requirements), Canadian citizens (travel.gc.ca), US citizens (State Department, choose the country), Irish citizens (DFA travel advice, choose the country).
  6. After you returnGive the full report to your doctor; abnormal results are followed up at home.

Can your public system pay for it?

NHS and HSE schemes do not reach Thailand. The NHS S2 route covers state treatment in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, and the HSE schemes cover the EU, EEA, the UK and Switzerland. Treatment in Thailand is paid by you or by a private insurer who agrees in advance. NHS S2 route, HSE Treatment Abroad Scheme.

When not to travel for a heart check-up

  • Chest pain, breathlessness or fainting now: get urgent care at home.
  • Replacing the care you already get for a known heart condition.

How to compare heart check-up quotes

A heart check-up bundles tests of the heart and blood vessels: blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar tests, an ECG, an echocardiogram (heart ultrasound) and often an exercise stress test, reviewed by a cardiologist. Bigger packages add a coronary calcium score or a CT angiogram.

  • Check that an echocardiogram and an exercise test are included, not only an ECG and blood tests.
  • Ask whether a cardiologist explains the results the same day, in English.
  • CT-based tests (calcium score, CT angiogram) add radiation. Ask why they are in the package.

Heart check-up in Thailand: questions

How much does a heart check-up cost in Thailand?

BNH Hospital publishes only bundles that include other tests, so there is no price for a heart check-up on its own that compares with other countries.

Is a heart check-up in Thailand cheaper than paying privately in the UK?

We do not have both a UK price and a comparable Thailand price for this, so we cannot say. Compare the published prices on this page with a written quote from a UK provider.

Will the NHS or HSE pay for a heart check-up in Thailand?

No. The NHS S2 route and the HSE schemes cover planned treatment in Europe only. Thailand is outside them, so you pay yourself or through a private insurer that agrees in advance.

How many days should I plan in Thailand?

Half a day to one day. That is our planning estimate, not medical advice: the clinic sets the schedule, and you should ask it for one in writing.

What should I check before booking a heart check-up in Thailand?

Check that an echocardiogram and an exercise test are included, not only an ECG and blood tests. Ask whether a cardiologist explains the results the same day, in English.
