How to choose a hair transplant clinic in Turkey
The best hair transplant clinic in Turkey for you is one you can check. These are the questions the price lists leave open:
- Who opens the channels? Turkish rules let only a doctor with a hair transplant certificate, a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist do it; other staff work under that doctor. Ask for the doctor's name and certificate.
- Where is the operation? A hair transplant unit may only work inside a licensed hospital, medical centre or polyclinic. Ask for the facility licence that lists the unit. Only Clinicana and Elithair name the place on the pages we read.
- Does the clinic hold a health tourism certificate? Turkish rules from April 2025 require clinics that treat foreign patients to hold a Ministry of Health authorisation certificate and complication insurance for operations, and to give you an itemised invoice (Resmî Gazete, in Turkish).
- How many grafts, in writing? “Maximum grafts” is not a number. Ask for the estimate after the photo assessment, and what happens if more are possible on the day.
- What does the stay include? Nights, transfers, medicines, PRP and the follow-up. Packages here run from no hotel at all to five nights.
- Who looks after you at home? On cosmetic surgery abroad, the NHS warns that safety standards may not be as high and that clinics may not provide follow-up to the same standard (NHS). Find a doctor at home who will see you afterwards.
How to check a Turkish hair transplant clinic's licence. Under Turkey's 2023 regulation on hair transplant units, a unit can open only inside a licensed health facility, such as a hospital, medical centre or polyclinic, and its activity permit is written onto that facility's licence. Only staff whose certificates are registered with the Ministry of Health may work in it; only a doctor with a hair transplant practitioner certificate may open the channels (plastic surgeons, dermatologists and doctors with a registered medical-aesthetics certificate are exempt from that certificate); other staff work under that doctor; and an anaesthetist must be present if you are sedated or put under general anaesthesia (Resmî Gazete, 6 May 2023, in Turkish). Ask the clinic for the facility licence that lists the hair transplant unit, the name of the doctor who will open the channels, and whether an anaesthetist will be there. The regulation also requires a signed informed-consent form with before photos of the donor and treated areas.
A 2025 amendment moved to 31 December 2026 the deadline for non-doctor staff already working in hair transplant units to get the assistant practitioner certificate, and lets facilities that had permission before 6 May 2023 carry on as they are (Resmî Gazete, 12 September 2025, in Turkish). So until that date, an assistant without the certificate can still legally be working under the doctor.

The UK Foreign Office says it is aware of 7 British nationals who died in Turkey in 2025 following medical procedures (FCDO); the figure is for all procedures, not hair transplants. More on whether surgery in Turkey is safe.
Hair transplant clinics in Turkey: questions
What is the best hair transplant clinic in Turkey?
No official body ranks hair transplant clinics in Turkey, and we do not either. What can be checked is what each clinic publishes: of the 4 Istanbul clinics with price lists we read, Clinicana names the hospital where it operates (Acıbadem Taksim Hospital), Elithair prices by graft count, Vera Clinic says its price does not change with the number of grafts, and Euro Istanbul Clinic is the cheapest but does not name a hospital or surgeon. Pick on who operates, the licence and what is included, then on price.
What is the average cost of a hair transplant in Turkey?
About £2,390, $3,190, C$4,460 or €2,850: the median of the lowest published package at each of the 4 clinics we checked, from £1,840 to £2,850. This is our calculation from the clinics’ own price lists, converted at European Central Bank rates, not a figure any clinic or authority publishes.
Why are some Turkish hair transplant packages cheaper?
On the lists we read, the cheaper packages leave out the hotel (Clinicana Basic), do not name the hospital or surgeon (Euro Istanbul Clinic), or use FUE rather than DHI. A higher price often buys DHI, more hotel nights or a named hospital, not necessarily a better result.
How many grafts do I get for the price?
It depends on the clinic. Euro Istanbul Clinic says up to 6,000 in one price, Clinicana says your “maximum grafts” without a number, Vera Clinic says its price does not change with graft count, and Elithair prices by graft count and adds $105 for every extra 500 grafts on the day if you agree. The number you can get depends on your donor area, so ask for the graft estimate in writing after the photo assessment.
How do I check a hair transplant clinic in Turkey is licensed?
Turkish rules from 2023 say a hair transplant unit may only work inside a licensed health facility, with its permit written on that facility’s licence, and only a doctor with a hair transplant certificate (or a plastic surgeon or dermatologist) may open the channels. Since April 2025, clinics that treat foreign patients also need a Ministry of Health authorisation certificate. Ask for both documents and the name of the doctor who will operate.
How many days do I need in Istanbul for a hair transplant?
2 to 3 days: consultation and blood tests, the operation (usually one long day), and a check or first wash the next day; our trip estimates use 3 hotel nights. Elithair’s own schedule is three days: tests on day 1, the operation on day 2 and a check-up before you fly home on day 3.
